Train My Canine

I was born into a life surrounded by dogs, my parents always had dogs in the family home and my father was a professional dog trainer meaning that I grew up with working dogs, one of the first things I learnt to do as a toddler was how to put a dog lead on!

So as you can see my passion for dogs started from a very young age!

I was about 9 years old when my parents allowed me to have my very own dog. She was a rescue Greyhound called Mary- every weekend I would go to the local pet shop & spend all my pocket money on Mary – I absolutely adored her!

When I wasn’t busy with Mary, and school, in my spare time I would help my sister at her Greyhound rescue, where I was very hands-on with lots of different types of dogs.

In 2017 I set up my very own charity Sighthound Stopgap, a rescue charity dedicated to rescuing, rehoming and rehabilitating neglected and abused sighthounds that have been discarded after their working careers.

Since its founding in 2017 Sighthound stopgap has rescued 100’s of sighthounds from neglect & euthanasia, and helped them find their forever homes. 

Fast forward to 2024 and I currently own 6 gorgeous rescue Sighthounds, along with 2 working line German Shepherds Huxley and Keela who I train and compete in both competition obedience and IGP (Schutzhund), and in 2024 I got the opportunity of a lifetime when me and Huxley were selected to be part of the Crufts 2024 inter Regional Competitive Obedience team, it’s a day I will never forget!

Canine psychology has always interested me and over the years I have invested lots of time and funds into furthering my education into canine psychology and behaviour and in 2023 I achieved my level 3 accredited Canine behaviour diploma with the British College Of Canine Studies. 

Alongside this I also hold a level 3 Diploma in dog grooming which includes health checking dogs through Ipet, a diploma in dog law with the BCCS, and I am also a certified Advanced Pet First Aid Level 3 Instructor with the accredited CPD Centre. 

So you can rest assured that when your dog comes in for training with me, that your canine companion is in the best hands, as a dog owner I only know too well the difficulties that dog owners face, so no matter what problem you are currently struggling with I am here to help!
